The film may have been a bonanza of special effects for the era, but it still had its limitations. In the book for instance, Atreyu was supposed to have green skin, and was literally a member of the tribe called ‘Greenskins’. However, the filmmakers found it a troublesome and costly enterprise to make Atreyu green and so opted against it.
