Interesting fact:

The distinctive seal of the Federation first appeared in “Star Trek: The Motion Picture”. Prior to that, in the episode “And the Children Shall Lead”, we were introduced to a pennant with the letters UFP and bordering stars. This pennant symbolised both the Federation and the shoestring budget the show was made on.
