First of all, you’d be ripped apart until you are just a string of atoms, a process scientists call ‘spaghettification’. But what awaits you once you’ve crossed the event horizon, no one can tell. In a black hole, the laws of physics break down, and since nothing can ever escape its gravity well, we’ll never be able to peek into a singularity – but there are speculations that black holes could be a gateway to parallel universes, or that they even cause new universes to form. They could also lead to an inverted version of themselves, so-called white holes – theoretical objects that constantly eject stuff and that nothing could ever enter.
