Eight publishers rejected Harry Potter before it was finally picked up for publication. Even then, J.K. Rowling only received £2,500 as an advance. The seventh and final novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was published in 2007 and sold 11 million copies worldwide in its first 24 hours.
