Spoiler alert! J.K. Rowling always planned to have Hagrid carry Harry across the battlefield, supposedly dead, at the end of the novels. It was this ending that kept Hagrid’s character alive through the series—he was the half-giant that carried Harry into this magical world, and was always going to be the one to carry him back.
