Alexander Graham Bell, best known for inventing that thing called a telephone, is lucky to escape also going down in history as committing a monstrous social faux-pas. When Bell was demonstrating the telephone for Queen Victoria, he unintentionally touched her hand. As many in the audience gasped in horror at the never-seen-before brushing of skin, the Queen only noted how impressed she was with the new technology.
