Alcatraz has been listed in the Huffington Post as one of the most haunted places in America. Even before it became a federal prison, this island located in San Francisco Bay was considered by Native American communities to be a place swarming with evil spirits. Then government officials plonked a prison on it and there have been numerous claims from inmates, guards, and visitors of paranormal activity. These include the sounds of crying in empty cells, the feeling of mysterious cold spots when walking through the corridors and even one ghost with glowing red eyes. This ain’t no holiday camp!
