Wim Wenders’s 1987 film, Wings of Desire, is about an angel who wants to disavow his heavenly duties so that he can experience the physical and mortal world. Filming the Berlin Wall was prohibited, so a replica had to be constructed…twice! The first wall, built of wood, warped in the rain.
