There are plenty of phrases that have come from jazz and its community. Perhaps the most famous, at least nowadays, is the word ‘hipster.’ ‘Hep’ was a popular term in the 1930s, an age when jazz thrived and was used to describe someone who was knowledgeable and cool: a hepster. As time went on, this became ‘hipster’ and has since earned a new connotation. Damn hipsters.
