Interesting fact:
In ancient times the colour purple was associated with status and royalty. It was found in the glands of tiny shellfish and extracted as a dye. It would take 12,000 of these shellfish to extract just 1.5 grams! This made the purple colour very valuable and unusual. Rome, Egypt and Persia all used purple to clothe their royal dignitaries.
