The golden ratio and the Fibonacci numbers are actually related in many ways. For example, the ratios of sequential Fibonacci numbers get closer and closer to the golden ratio. The higher the number, the more it approaches the golden ratio 1.6180339... (from 5/3=1.66..., an irrational number, to 317811/196418=1.6180339...)
