The pilgrims endured a harsh first winter in 1621 and nearly half of the Mayflower’s passengers and crew died. However, within the next 70 years the colony grew to more than 3,000 people. The Mayflower pilgrims have had a big impact with more than 35 million direct descendants in America – this includes John Adams, Franklin Roosevelt, Marilyn Monroe and Clint Eastwood!
