Pop Art began in the 1950s, but became very popular in the 1960s. It started in the United Kingdom, but moved on to become a huge art movement in New York City. It was a reaction against traditional art practices. Pop artists preferred to work with bright colors like red, yellow and blue as well as other colors which resembled advertisements.
