Did you know that the PG-13 rating exists because of Steven Spielberg? He suggested it be introduced following numerous complaints made by parents over the PG ratings of films like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. I mean, a guy’s face literally melts in that one. Following these complaints, he suggested to the president of the MPAA, Jack Valenti, that he introduce PG-13 for the films that aren’t quite for kids or R rated. He agreed.
