Interesting fact:
Julie Andrews was very nearly left out of the running for the role of Mary Poppins. She had originated the role of Eliza Doolittle on Broadway and was expected to be cast in the film. At the last moment, they cast Audrey Hepburn. Andrews ended up beating Hepburn to win both Golden Globe and Oscar for best actress!
