The animated series was the first Emmy-winning incarnation of Star Trek; it received the 1975 Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment – Children’s Series. Subsequent Star Trek series won a total of 34 of the coveted trophies, in different categories. JJ Abrams‘ 2009 movie won Star Trek’s first Academy Award.
