There are loads of old Valentine’s Day traditions from the Middle Ages! Young people used to write their names on pieces of paper and draw the names to see who their Valentine would be. Then they had to wear their Valentines’ names on their sleeves for everyone to see! This led to the phrase ‘to wear your heart on your sleeve’.
