Makeup has been around for much longer than you may think! The patent for nail polish was filed in 1919 and was a light pink color. The first instance of the product, however, date as far back as 3000 BC in China. The first nail polish was composed of a mixture of beeswax, gum, egg whites and color powder, a far cry from the formula used today! Women now spend, on average, about $15,000 on cosmetics in their lifetime.
