You may be familiar with the Civil War that erupted in The Avengers. And during this tumultuous time, Spider-Man originally sided with Iron Man and others on a rather controversial issue: the Superhuman Registration Act. This act decreed that, in an effort to curtail the autonomy and power of superheroes everywhere, the identities of superhumans must be revealed. Spidey supported the act in a television broadcast where he said, “My name is Peter Parker, and I’ve been Spider-Man since I was 15.” This unfortunately brought a great deal of attention on the young man and those he loved.
