Warner Brothers got a pretty good deal when they bought the rights to the play “Everybody Comes to Rick's”. The story later became Casablanca and only cost $20,000 to secure. The writers, Joan Alison and Murray Burnett, later sued Warner Brothers to try and regain control of their intellectual property.
