Interesting fact:

The Olympics were originally a pagan festival which celebrated the Greek god Zeus. The tradition ended in 393 A.D. and was revived in 1894. A French educator proposed the revival to encourage nations to communicate more with one another. At the first games in 1896 fittingly the host – Greece – won the most medals.
