2016 was the first time in Olympic history that a South American country hosted the games. 206 countries brought 10,500 athletes to compete across 17 days. Rio had to do a lot of preparation before the Games could take place. Even the taxi drivers took part! They were offered free English lessons by the Olympic Committee so that they could communicate with foreign sports fans!
