Did you always think the Earth was a sphere? Well it kind of is! Because of the centrifugal force exerted on our planet, gravity pushes a big bulge of water and earth around the equator. This creates a ‘spare tire’ bulge around the middle of the Earth and distorts the sphere-like shape.
