Reggae originated in Jamaica in the 1960s. It is sung in different dialects including Jamaican English and Jamaican patois. The first song to use the word ‘reggae’ is ‘Do the Reggay’ by Toots and the Maytals in 1968. There is now even a Reggae Month in Jamaica every February!
