Interesting fact:

The first ever television gameshow was called ‘Spelling Bee’ and was transmitted live by the BBC on the 31st May 1938. It was fifteen minutes long and had the format of a traditional spelling bee. By 1993 the average British viewer was watching ninety minutes of quiz shows every week!
