Interesting fact:

The filming of Babe took place over a long period – and piglets grow up fast! In fact the producers had to use no less than 48 pigs to play Babe during the filming. Including all the other farmyard creatures, there were 970 animals on the set altogether! After the film came there was a big drop in pork sales thanks to the film’s strongly vegetarian message.
