Mark Twain once said, ‘Southerners talk music’, and if you take the time to listen to some Southern sayings you will quickly see that this really is true. There’s a lot of poetry and wit in many of these phrases. Listen to these: ‘That youngin’ is as wild as a junebug on a string’, ‘It’s hotter than a billy goat in a pepper patch’ and ‘Ain’t nobody gonna mess on me and call it apple butter!’.
