Wonder Woman’s origin story has changed over time. She was initially said to be crafted out of clay and brought to life by the Greek gods, but this was altered later and she was designated the daughter of Zeus. No matter her origins, her creator invented her character as a ‘model liberated woman’. William Moulton Marston drew inspiration not only from his wife Elizabeth, but also Olive Byrne, who lived with the couple as part of a polyamorous relationship.
