It was not unusual for artists to select their band name out of thin air. ‘The Commodores’ got theirs by randomly selecting from the dictionary, AC/DC from a sewing machine, and ‘Led Zeppelin’ chose theirs as a joke. ‘Led Zeppelin’ came about when Keith Moon of ‘The Who’ joked that the band would go down like a lead balloon.
