Diana’s older sister, Sarah, actually dated Charles prior to her relationship with him. Apparently, Sarah’s rumors about the relationship to the press led to their break-up, after which Charles began pursuing Diana. Lady Sarah gave her blessing to Charles and Diana upon announcement of their engagement, so there were no hard feelings.
