Dickens would take his stories on tour with him, including a Christmas Carol. On reading days, he would begin the day with two tablespoons of rum mixed with cream. He’d follow it up with a pint of champagne at tea time, and half an hour before gracing the stage, he’d enjoy a sherry with a raw egg beaten in. Festive!
