Interesting fact:

Amy Sherman-Palladino, the showrunner, is a big pop fan. It goes without saying that every episode was cracking with pop culture references. The funny thing is that not all of the actors understood them and, as Alexis Bledel recalls, many of them had to do some research to have a clear idea of what was going on.
