Did you know that until 1969 in Britain it was illegal to not attend church on Christmas day? That’s right! The Holy Days and Fasting Days Act of 1551 decreed that every British citizen must attend a church service on Christmas Day. It was only repealed in the sixties, although of course it hadn’t been enforced for a long time!
