The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series was outright banned in New Zealand, dropped from two Canadian TV stations and edited on others for being too violent. It was also banned in Malaysia but for another reason entirely—as authorities thought that “the use of the word ‘morphin’ could have a ‘negative influence on children’ who associate it with the drug ‘morphine.
