In the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14 to commemorate the adoption of the flag on June 14, 1777. Although it is observed nationwide, Flag Day is not a federal holiday. Pennsylvania is the only state to establish the date as a state holiday. New York also designates the second Sunday in June every year as a state holiday for Flag Day.
