The original manuscripts for Harry Potter were not well received. Twelve publishing houses rejected them in the beginning (how sorry they all must be now). Eventually, a small publisher by the name of Bloomsbury gave J.K. Rowling a shot at making it big, giving her a small advance in the process. Even Bloomsbury couldn’t have predicted that it would mark the beginning of the bestselling book series in history. The final installment in the Harry Potter series went on to break industry records and became the fastest-selling book of all time.
