Like his brother, William has also served in the British Army. He was known affectionately by his fellow soldiers as ‘Billy the Fish’. It’s a pun on his name ‘William Wales’! Both he and his brother enjoyed the anonymity that the army offered which allowed them to be treated as an average soldier.
