Five-time NBA champion Tim Duncan almost never turned out to be a professional basketball player. Duncan was originally training to become a member of the 1992 U.S. Men’s Olympic Swim Team until Hurricane Hugo destroyed the only facilities that he could train in. His phobia of sharks kept him from training in the ocean temporarily. It was during this period that he began to play basketball to keep in shape, and the rest is history.
