David Schwimmer was offered the role of Agent J before Will Smith. Fortunately, Schwimmer turned the role down and Smith took his place. Smith was partly in the running for the role, as Sonnenfeld’s wife was a huge fan of the series, Fresh Prince of Bel Air.
