There was a lot of hype over the fancy hotel where Gere’s character was staying, and it was rumored that the movie was taking place at the luxurious Beverly Wilshire. However, in actuality, the movie was filmed in Los Angeles at the Ambassador Hotel – not the highly admired high-end hotel fans thought was the movie filming location. In fact, in order to build schools, the hotel was torn down in 2005.
