Don’t offend witches by calling them a ‘gaggle’; the correct term for the group is ‘coven’. The word witch is derived from the word ‘wicce’ which actually means ‘wise woman’ in old English. Originally, people would come to these wise women for advice on how to solve their problems, particularly with medical issues. The women were seen as medical experts with special remedies and powers. As time passed, witches became ostracized and viewed as a threat to be eradicated.
