The original name for Dracula was 'Count Wampyr'. The author only changed the name from Wampyr to Dracula after borrowing the book “An Account of the Principalities of Wallchia and Moldavia” from the library in Witby during a summer vacation in 1890. Also, contrary to popular belief, the Dracula character was not actually modelled on Vlad the Impaler—though a loose basis is certainly there.
