Interesting fact:

Herbert Hoover had rather unusual expectations of his White House staff – he asked that they remain invisible at all times. This meant that whenever Hoover or his wife entered the room, the servants had to speedily exit the room or hide in a closet. They even asked groundskeepers to jump behind a shrubbery if they saw Hoover approaching them in the garden!
