In this country, Pancake Day is also called ‘Shrove Tuesday’ – which means paying penance for our sins. It was named Pancake Day because before Lent fasting begins it is traditional to eat all the heavy foods – eggs, butter, sugar and flour! What better way to do that than to eat pancakes?
