Pokémon characters Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee got their names from the famous fighters Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. This is also true for their alternate Japanese names, as ‘Ebihara’ and ‘Sawamular’ are taken from Japanese world champion boxer Hiroyuki Ebihara and the world’s first kick-boxer, Tadashi Sawamura.
