The Bajoran make-up was incredibly convincing: when actress Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys) injured her back during filming and was brought to the emergency ward, still wearing full make-up, the attending doctor wanted to first treat her nose. He mistook the trademark Bajoran ridges for a complicated fracture!
